Instagram lead generation with comment-to-DM in 2026 is collecting a lead when someone comments GUIDE, QUOTE, PRICE, WAITLIST, or DEMO. The DM that follows holds one URL: a Typeform, Google Form, Calendly, Kit page, or landing page. That form tool still stores the lead. Stripe or PayPal process the payment if the next URL is a payment link. The Instagram tool only sends the message.
Rank the stack in this order: DM Automation first (this site: free 100 DMs/month, Starter $19/month), InstantDM second (Legend Pro $9.99/month billed yearly, InstantDM pricing, October 2026), ManyChat third. Then LinkDM Pro $19/month, ReplyRush Lite $10/month, Chatfuel Business at US$18/month billed yearly, SendPulse, Respond.io Starter $79/month, SetSmart Light $25/month.
This ranking is organic comment-to-DM and story reply as a lead capture mechanic. The inbox and tag job lives at Instagram CRM tools that use DMs. The list-builder job lives at Build an email list from Instagram DMs. Paid click-to-message lives at Instagram Click-to-DM Ads Playbook 2026. Same vendors, different job.
Prices below come from each vendor’s public pricing page, checked 25 October 2026, except ManyChat’s public table which we quote from Featurebase’s write-up of ManyChat’s 2 March 2026 plans (Manychat Pricing 2026) and link to ManyChat pricing. manychat.com/pricing still returns 403 from this host.
Related: If you only needed a no-card test, use free Instagram automation tool 2026. If a warning showed up after a password app, use “We suspect automated behavior” on Instagram. Setup copy lives at comment-to-DM automation. Coaches sending a calendar still belong on Instagram DM automation for coaches.
What is Instagram lead generation with comment-to-DM?
Instagram lead generation with comment-to-DM is software that, through Meta’s official API, sends a DM with a form URL when someone already commented or replied to a story. The comment is the hand raise. The form is the record. The DM is the delivery.
The lead is an email, a phone number, a booking, a quote request, or a PDF magnet signup. It is not a like, a follower, or a username you copied into a sheet. If they never typed anything on a form, you don’t have a lead you can email, call, or book. You have a comment.
The form tool still stores the lead. Typeform, Google Form, Calendly, Kit, or a landing page holds the fields and the consent checkbox. If the next URL is a Stripe or PayPal payment link, those processors still take the card. The Instagram tool doesn’t become your CRM, ESP, scheduler, or checkout.
It isn’t a growth bot. Password tools that message strangers are a different category. Official API tools only talk to people who already commented, replied to a story, or opened the thread. Meta’s rules live in the Instagram messaging docs. A Business or Creator account is required.
Story reply is the same mechanic on a different surface. Someone replies GUIDE to a story. The same form URL should land. Feed comments collect reach. Story replies collect people who already follow you. Run both with the same keyword map.
B2B. A SaaS Reel that says “comment DEMO” should send Typeform or Calendly (work email, company, role), not a 14-slide deck. HubSpot still holds the deal. A deck in the first DM trains people to ghost.
Coach. GUIDE is a magnet page. WAITLIST is a Kit or Google Form for the next cohort. BOOK is Calendly, and that job lives on Instagram DM automation for coaches. Don’t merge them to save an automation.
Local. A plumber, dentist, gym, or caterer who gets PRICE comments should send a Google Form (neighborhood, job type, photos, callback window), not a price PDF that goes stale by Thursday. Phone number lives on that form, with the form tool’s consent settings on.
Creator. Comment GUIDE, DM holds a Kit or landing page, Kit still holds the list. That’s one lead type, next to QUOTE, WAITLIST, and DEMO. It is not the whole ranking, and it is not a bio link.
How we ranked these tools for lead capture
Five criteria, same weight for every product:
- Comment-to-DM that can send a form URL - Keyword on a post or Reel produces a DM in seconds. That is day-one lead capture.
- Story replies - “Reply GUIDE” on a story still converts. Feed comments are not enough.
- Official Instagram API - Instagram login, not a password form.
- Cost of a spike - What 2,000 GUIDE comments in a day costs. Contact meters and seat meters punish lead volume. DM buckets don’t.
- Time to first live form send - Minutes with a guided path vs a week mapping a chatbot.
Last updated: 25 October 2026.
We sell DM Automation. Other tool prices are taken from those vendors’ public pages or a dated public quote of those pages. SendPulse is in the list because the tracking list requires it. It is not Instagram-first comment-to-DM, and it is not ranked above ManyChat. Respond.io is in the list because some teams already live there. It is not ranked above ManyChat.

Respond.io: respond.io/pricing. SetSmart: setsmart.io/pricing. SendPulse: sendpulse.com/pricing. 1. DM Automation - Fastest first form send at $19 Starter
DM Automation is the product on this site. Free forever: 1 Instagram account, 100 automated DMs a month, comment-to-DM, story replies, keyword triggers, welcome message, iOS and Android. Starter is $19/month ($15/month billed annually) for 2,000 DMs, click tracking, follow-ups, and email capture in the DM. Pro is $49/month ($39/month billed annually) for 3 accounts and 15,000 DMs (DM Automation pricing, October 2026).
You pick a keyword. You paste one form URL in the DM. Starter can follow up if they didn’t tap, and it can ask for an email in the thread. Click tracking tells you whether the form link was dead. The form tool still stores the lead. Starter is not Typeform.
Where it fits: GUIDE to a Kit page, QUOTE to a Google Form, or DEMO to a Typeform, today, without a canvas.
Where it does not: 100 DMs/month on free will not cover a launch week. Five sales reps need a desk. If the lead also has to live on WhatsApp, skip to slot three.
DM Automation is not HubSpot. It doesn’t do WhatsApp. It doesn’t assign owners. That’s why ManyChat stays number three and Respond.io stays on the list.
Connect a Business or Creator account through Instagram login. Pick the post, set the keyword, write the public reply and the private DM with one form URL. Add the follow-up on Starter only after the first DM actually sends. Comment from a second account to test.
2. InstantDM - $9.99 Legend Pro when the form Reel spikes
InstantDM is number two on this site. Legend Pro is $9.99/month billed yearly with unlimited DMs (up to 800 an hour), Instagram plus Facebook, and story, Live, and next-post triggers. Trendsetter is $24.99/month billed yearly for the flow editor, Meta Ads, API, and webhooks. Trendsetter Pro is $49.99/month billed yearly. Free forever is 500 DM automations a month. Paid plans also offer a 7-day free trial, no card (instantdm.com/pricing, October 2026). Multi Starter is $160/year for 3 accounts.
The reason this product sits at two is the meter. A tool that bills every new commenter as a forever contact punishes the behavior you wanted: lots of people asking for the form. Unlimited DMs on a flat $9.99 yearly-billed plan means 2,000 GUIDE comments in a day doesn’t create 2,000 billable seats. You still respect Meta’s throughput. You don’t pay per person forever.
Trendsetter is the plan if the DM after DEMO needs conditions, delays, and tags inside a flow, or if you need the API to push a submitted email into a real CRM. Legend Pro is the plan if the DM is still one form URL.
It sends payment links in DMs. Stripe or PayPal still process the payment. InstantDM is not a checkout, not Typeform, and not a WhatsApp suite. The form tool still stores the lead.
Use this slot when you want unlimited DMs on a small flat bill and the stack is comment to form URL. Use LinkDM when you prefer a published monthly DM cap. Use ManyChat when WhatsApp has to sit in the same contact file. Throughput still caps around 800/hour. A spike is not a reason to paste the Instagram password into a “faster” bot.
3. ManyChat - Keep it if the lead also has to live on WhatsApp
ManyChat is number three. Pro is $29/month billed yearly ($39 billed monthly) with 2,500 active contacts on the 2 March 2026 plan set (Featurebase, quoting ManyChat’s public table). Free is 25 active contacts per month. Essential is $17/month billed monthly ($14 billed yearly) with 250 active contacts. Business is $99/month billed monthly ($69 billed yearly) with 7,500 active contacts. Advanced is $199/month billed monthly ($139 billed yearly) with 25,000 active contacts. AI is included on Pro and above on the new model. Extra contacts are billed on top. See ManyChat pricing.
Keep ManyChat when lead gen meant tags, sequences, and WhatsApp in the same inbox. Leave it when you only needed a form URL after GUIDE.
Every new commenter can become an active contact. Featurebase’s worked example of a 10,000-contact ecommerce brand on Business plus overages plus WhatsApp delivery lands at $307.50/month in their October 2026 article. That’s an example, not your quote. A DM bucket stores the same people as threads without billing them as seats.
Where it wins: Instagram plus WhatsApp, team routing, a canvas you already built, tags that mean something, a form send that is one step in a longer flow.
Where it loses: a single Instagram keyword billed as 2,000 new contacts because a Reel worked. Agencies already in ManyChat should read Instagram DM automation for agencies. Meter math: ManyChat pricing 2026.
4. LinkDM - Comment auto-reply is Pro, $19 for 25,000 DMs
LinkDM Free is 1,000 DMs/month on 1 account. Pro is $19/month for 25,000 DMs on 3 accounts. Platinum+ is $99/month for 300,000 DMs on 10 accounts (LinkDM pricing, October 2026).
Comment auto-reply is a Pro checkbox. Free will send DMs and story replies. Free will not be your GUIDE-to-form machine on comments. If the whole job is organic comment-to-DM lead capture, budget Pro.
Where it fits: you want the invoice to say DMs, you want a published cap, and you will pay $19 so comment auto-reply is on.
Where it does not: WhatsApp, a shared support desk, or a form builder. Paste the Typeform URL. Don’t wait for LinkDM to become Typeform. A local clinic running PRICE on three Reels a week will chew Free’s 1,000 DMs if the Reels work. Pro’s 25,000 DMs is the lead-capture plan.
5. ReplyRush - $10 Lite, comment-to-DM is not on free
ReplyRush Free is 1,500 DMs/month. Lite is $10/month for 7,500 DMs. Boost is $25/month for 40,000 DMs. Max is $100/month for 400,000 DMs (ReplyRush pricing, October 2026). Comment auto-reply is not on the free plan. Email collector sits on paid plans.
Lite is $10/month for 7,500 DMs, more than DM Automation Starter’s 2,000, at a lower sticker. Starter still wins if you want click tracking on this site’s product.
Where it fits: one account, paid comment-to-DM, a form URL, maybe an email collector on paid.
Where it does not: a five-seat inbox. Boost is 3 accounts. Max is 5. That is still not Respond.io. Don’t stay on Free and wonder why comments don’t open a DM. Comment auto-reply is paid.
6. Chatfuel - Scored DEMO forms, chatbot wallet
Chatfuel Business is US$18/month billed yearly (US$216/year) with US$20 of AI credits per month. Agency S is US$90/month billed yearly (US$1,080/year) with US$100 of AI credits per month and 3 companies. Every plan starts with a free trial, no card (Chatfuel pricing, October 2026).
Chatfuel’s public nav lists inbox and CRM, live chat, lead qualification, and CRM sync. That’s a real qualification claim. It is also a chatbot platform. If you wanted one form URL without a co-pilot, prefer a DM bucket plus Typeform.
Where it fits: DEMO has to score before a human sees it. B2B that already thinks in “qualified lead” language.
Where it does not: GUIDE on a Reel billed as a chatbot wallet. WhatsApp fees are extra. See Chatfuel alternatives for Instagram DMs if the bot was the problem. Don’t skip the form. The form tool still stores the lead.
7. SendPulse - Email-first suite, not Instagram-first comment-to-DM
SendPulse is a suite. Email plans on the public pricing page start around $9.60/month billed annually for up to 500 subscribers on Standard (SendPulse pricing, October 2026). Chatbots sit inside the suite. Instagram chat is not the reason to pick it first.
Where it fits: the lead file you care about is already email in SendPulse, and Instagram is how people join that file.
Where it does not: you searched Instagram lead generation and you don’t run email in SendPulse. Don’t add a suite to get a GUIDE keyword.
SendPulse isn’t ranked above ManyChat. If your only need is a Kit magnet after GUIDE, send the Kit URL from an Instagram-first DM tool. Don’t migrate ESPs to collect one keyword.
8. Respond.io - Team inbox from $79, not a creator keyword
Respond.io Starter is $79/month. Growth is $159/month. Advanced is $279/month (Respond.io pricing, October 2026).
This is the row that matches a support or sales desk: shared inbox, seats, contacts, channels. Creators should not buy it because a blog said “lead generation.”
Where it fits: several humans, several channels, a desk that already exists, and Instagram is one of those channels. A B2B SDR team that wants DEMO comments to land next to email and WhatsApp tickets.
Where it does not: a creator sending one form URL. $79 Starter is the wrong first Instagram lead tool. If you already live here, keep it as the desk and let an Instagram-first keyword tool send the first form URL.
9. SetSmart - Consult setter from $25, not a form warehouse
SetSmart Light is $25/month for 250 AI messages, billed today, no free trial. Pro is $97/month for 1,000 AI messages with a 7-day trial (SetSmart pricing, October 2026).
Where it fits: coaches who want a conversation that books a consult. That thread is a lead of sorts. The calendar still stores the booking.
Where it does not: a tagged list of quote forms. WAITLIST still wants a Kit form. QUOTE still wants Google Form. BOOK still lives on Instagram DM automation for coaches.
Should GUIDE, QUOTE, DEMO, and WAITLIST share one keyword?
No. Never share one keyword across GUIDE, QUOTE, DEMO, and WAITLIST.
One keyword, one URL, one lead type. Instagram will send the same DM to everyone who comments that word. If GUIDE and QUOTE both fire on INFO, the plumber gets a PDF swipe file and the PDF reader gets a remodel form. Both bounce.
GUIDE is a magnet. Kit, a landing page, a Google Form that asks for email in exchange for a file. Adjacent to the email-list page, as one lead type, not as the whole site.
QUOTE is a request for a custom number. Typeform or Google Form. Job type, photos, neighborhood, deadline. Local trades, agencies, freelancers.
PRICE is the trap word. On a product Reel it can mean a price sheet or a product page. On a service Reel it should be the quote form, not a PDF that you forget to update. Don’t run PRICE and QUOTE on the same account unless the captions make the difference obvious. Better: pick one.
DEMO is B2B. Work email, company, role, time zone. Calendly or Typeform. Not a public Figma link with no fields.
WAITLIST is a future slot. Cohort, drop, class, launch. Kit or Google Form. Not Calendly for “sometime.” Not GUIDE’s PDF.
Story replies must use the same map. If the Reel says comment GUIDE and the story says reply INFO, you built two doors. Pick the word. Public reply should confirm it: “Sent the guide to your DMs,” not four offers. Setup copy: comment-to-DM automation. Split hats: GUIDE on education Reels, BOOK on offer Reels (coaches page), WAITLIST on launch week. Don’t run DEMO and GUIDE on the same B2B Reel. Don’t run PRICE on every local post because it’s short.
What does a 2,000-comment spike cost for lead capture?
A Reel at 2,000 comments, one DM each with a form URL, then a 30% follow-up on people who did not tap (600 extra DMs):
- DM Automation Starter: 2,000 DMs at $19. The first wave fits. The follow-up does not unless the month was quiet. Pro is 15,000 DMs at $49.
- Legend Pro at $9.99/month billed yearly: unlimited DMs. Both waves fit. Throughput still caps around 800/hour.
- Free on this site: 100 DMs. Neither wave fits.
- Slot-two free: 500 automations. Neither wave fits.
- LinkDM Pro: 25,000 DMs at $19. Both waves fit. Free’s 1,000 does not, and comment auto-reply is not on Free.
- ReplyRush Lite: 7,500 DMs at $10. Both waves fit. Free’s 1,500 has no comment auto-reply.
- ManyChat Pro: 2,500 active contacts at $29/month billed yearly. 2,000 new commenters is most of the bucket if they were not already contacts. Follow-ups to the same people may not add contacts. New people will.
- Chatfuel Business: US$18/month yearly plus credits if the flow used AI turns.
- SendPulse, Respond.io $79, SetSmart Light 250 AI messages: wrong meters for a creator comment spike.
Size the plan for the noisy week plus the follow-up, not the quiet Tuesday. The form tool still stores the lead, so the spike cost is DMs. Typeform’s own tier is a separate invoice. Click-to-DM ads are a different spike: Instagram Click-to-DM Ads Playbook 2026.
What are the floor rules for collecting emails and phones in DMs?
Collecting an email or phone in a DM still needs a real form plus consent on that form. The chat is not the form.
We are not your counsel. Check your counsel and the form tool’s settings before you collect anything you plan to email, SMS, or call. This section is the operating floor we use on this site, not a privacy opinion.
Official API only. Instagram login. No password paste. Meta’s rules: Instagram messaging docs. If a warning already showed up, read “We suspect automated behavior.”
People who already contacted you. Comment, story reply, or a thread they opened. Not a purchased username list. Not everyone who liked a photo.
One URL. The DM holds the form. Typeform, Google Form, Calendly, Kit, or a landing page still stores the lead. If you also ask them to type an email as a chat reply, you now have two copies and one of them has no checkbox.
Consent lives on the form. Use the form tool’s required consent field and double-opt-in if that is how you run email. Don’t invent a “commenting GUIDE means you opted in” rule. We will not write that rule for you.
Phone. Put it on the form with the form tool’s consent options, then check with counsel whether you can SMS that number. Don’t harvest numbers from Instagram profiles.
Payment links are not lead forms. If the next URL is a Stripe or PayPal payment link, those processors take the card. The Instagram tool sends the link.
Business or Creator account. Personal accounts cannot connect official tools.
One follow-up, not six. If they didn’t open the form, one reminder DM with the same URL is enough.
Don’t run two tools on the same keyword. Two DMs. People report both. Cut over, then delete the old automation. The email-list page is the deeper ESP version of GUIDE.
Who is each tool for?
Creator, testing a magnet. DM Automation free (100 DMs) or the 500-automation free plan in slot two. One GUIDE keyword. One Kit page.
Click tracking on the form URL. DM Automation Starter $19.
Afraid of a viral Reel. Legend Pro at $9.99/month billed yearly, unlimited DMs, 800/hour.
WhatsApp plus Instagram. ManyChat is number three.
Published DM cap. LinkDM Pro $19.
Lowest paid comment-to-DM. ReplyRush Lite $10.
B2B DEMO that has to score. Chatfuel Business from US$18 yearly, plus Typeform.
Already on SendPulse email. Stay there for the file. Don’t add it to get a keyword.
Team desk. Respond.io from $79.
Consult setter. SetSmart from $25 Light. BOOK still sits on Instagram DM automation for coaches.
Local QUOTE. DM Automation Starter or ReplyRush Lite, Google Form, one keyword.
Coach with a PDF, a waitlist, and a call. Three keywords, three URLs. Calendly, Kit, landing page. Don’t compress them.
How do I choose a lead-capture tool in 10 minutes?
- Start with DM Automation (own tool on this site). Free 100 DMs/month, Starter $19 with click tracking and a form URL in the DM.
- If you want unlimited DMs on a flat $9.99 yearly-billed plan, pick slot two.
- If the lead also needs WhatsApp, ManyChat is number three.
- Lowest paid Instagram comment-to-DM: ReplyRush Lite $10.
- Published cap plus comment auto-reply: LinkDM Pro $19.
- Scored DEMO: Chatfuel Business from US$18 yearly.
- Shared inbox: Respond.io $79.
- Consult setter: SetSmart from $25.
- Already on SendPulse email: stay there for the file, don’t add it to get a keyword.
If two tools fit, pick the meter that matches last month’s noisest Reel. Seats, contacts, credits, subscribers, and DMs are not interchangeable.
Then: one keyword, one form URL, comment from a second account, submit the form, confirm the row in Typeform, Google Form, Calendly, or Kit. Pay for a bigger bucket only after that row exists.
No-card tests: free Instagram automation tool 2026. Caption mistakes: comment-to-DM automation.
FAQ
What is Instagram lead generation with comment-to-DM in 2026?
It is collecting a lead when someone comments GUIDE, QUOTE, PRICE, WAITLIST, or DEMO, then sending one form URL in the DM. Typeform, Google Form, Calendly, Kit, or a landing page still stores the lead. Stripe or PayPal process the payment if the next URL is a payment link.
Which tools rank for organic comment-to-DM lead capture?
DM Automation first (this site: free 100 DMs/month, Starter $19/month), slot two at $9.99/month billed yearly for unlimited DMs, ManyChat third if WhatsApp is in the same file. Then LinkDM, ReplyRush, Chatfuel, SendPulse, Respond.io, and SetSmart. Ranked 25 October 2026.
Does the DM tool replace Typeform or Calendly?
No. The DM tool sends the link. The form tool still stores the lead. Calendly still holds the slot. Kit still holds the magnet list.
Can GUIDE, QUOTE, DEMO, and WAITLIST share one keyword?
No. Never share one keyword. One word, one URL, one lead type. Story replies should use the same map.
Do I still need a form if I collect email in the DM?
Yes if you plan to email, SMS, or call that person as a lead. Collecting an email in chat still needs a real form plus consent on that form. Check your counsel and the form tool’s settings. This is not legal advice.
How much does a 2,000-comment GUIDE Reel cost?
DM Automation Starter covers 2,000 DMs at $19 and may miss the follow-up. LinkDM Pro is 25,000 DMs at $19. ReplyRush Lite is 7,500 DMs at $10. ManyChat Pro is 2,500 active contacts at $29/month billed yearly, so 2,000 new commenters is most of the bucket. Slot two at $9.99/month billed yearly is unlimited DMs, 800/hour.
Is SendPulse an Instagram-first lead tool?
No. SendPulse’s public pricing is email-first (about $9.60/month billed annually up to 500 subscribers on Standard, SendPulse pricing, October 2026). Instagram chat isn’t the reason to pick it first. It isn’t ranked above ManyChat.
Is this the same as Click-to-DM ads?
No. Ads that open Direct are Instagram Click-to-DM Ads Playbook 2026. This ranking is organic comments and story replies.
Can I run comment-to-DM lead capture from a personal Instagram account?
No. Switch to Business or Creator first. Official API tools will not connect a personal account.
Is it safe to auto-DM people who comment GUIDE?
On official API tools, you are messaging people who already commented or replied. Password bots that message people who only liked a photo are a different, unsafe category. If a warning already showed up, read “We suspect automated behavior.”

Next step
Pick a free plan, connect one Business or Creator account, and ship one comment-to-DM with one form URL. Comment from a second account. Submit the form. Confirm the row exists in Typeform, Google Form, Calendly, or Kit. Then pay for a bigger bucket only after that row is real.
