How we compare

We publish comparisons that include our own product. Here is how to read them.

We are not a neutral reviewer

DM Automation is a product, and the comparisons on this site are published by the company that makes one of the products in them. We rank ourselves first. Read that the way you would read any vendor comparison.

What we do to make it useful anyway:

  • Every feature row is a checkable fact, not an opinion. If a competitor supports something, it gets a tick even when it makes us look worse.
  • Every platform we cover, including ours, has a trade-offs list. Ours says no WhatsApp, no SMS, and guided setup rather than deep branching.
  • Where a competitor is the better answer for a given job, we say so and link to them: ManyChat for multi-channel, Respond.io for support teams.InstantDM gets the most space because it is the closest to how we work and the one readers ask about most.
  • Scores are ours and we label them as ours. They are not survey data and we do not dress them up as one.

What we test

Every platform gets the same task: take a Reel, trigger a DM on a keyword in the comments, include a tracked link, capture an email inside the thread, and hand anything unexpected to a human. We time how long that takes from signup to a live, tested automation, and note what we hit along the way.

Four things carry the most weight in the scores:

  • Setup speed. An automation that never ships is worth nothing.
  • Trigger coverage. Comments and story replies are where the volume is.
  • Mobile capability. Instagram is phone-first, and desktop-only builders add a delay exactly where speed matters.
  • Cost before proof. Paying $79 a month to find out whether your audience answers DMs is a bad trade.

Competitor pricing

Prices we quote for other platforms are their public list prices at the time of our last check, and the check date is shown on thepricing page. Vendors change prices without notice. Confirm on their own site before you buy.

No fabricated social proof

We do not publish invented testimonials, made-up customer counts or star ratings we did not collect, and we do not emit review structured data for ratings that do not exist. Illustrative figures in product screenshots and dashboards are labelled as examples.

Instagram and Meta

We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. We use Meta’s official Instagram Messaging API as an independent developer. Instagram, Meta and Facebook are trademarks of Meta Platforms, Inc.

Tell us when we are wrong

If a comparison is unfair or out of date — about us or about anyone else — say so on the contact page. That goes for vendors too. We would rather fix it than defend it.
