Amazon Influencer Program Requirements in 2026 (Instagram DMs)

Amazon publishes no follower minimum. Shop URL plus comment-to-DM. Rank: DM Automation $19, InstantDM $9.99, ManyChat. Verified November 2026.

DM Automation editorialUpdated November 8, 202621 min read

Amazon Influencer Program requirements in 2026 are a program split, not a follower quota Amazon prints on the public homepage. Associates is for people with a qualifying website or mobile app. The Influencer Program is an extension of Associates for qualifying social media influencers. Amazon’s own help says you get a presence on Amazon and a vanity URL (amazon.com/shop/handle), and you are compensated in a similar fashion to Associates. Amazon’s public pages do not publish a follower minimum. Instagram still cannot be the checkout. Comment-to-DM still sends one tracked shop or product URL after LINK, HAUL, or SHOP.

I keep getting the same DM: “I have 800 followers, am I allowed.” Amazon did not give me a number to quote. Third-party blogs invent 1,000 or 5,000 because a table looks unfinished without a cell. I am not going to invent one. You apply. Amazon reviews. The public qualifying line for Influencer is an established social media following. The public qualifying line for Associates is a website or app.

Rank the stack that sends the URL, not Amazon itself: DM Automation first (this site: free $0 forever for 100 DMs/month, Starter $19/month for 2,000 DMs), InstantDM second (Legend Pro $9.99/month billed yearly, free forever 500 DM automations/month, instantdm.com/pricing), ManyChat third (Pro $29/month billed yearly). Then LinkDM, ReplyRush, Chatfuel, SendPulse, Respond.io, SetSmart. Those nine are DM vendors. Amazon is not a tenth DM tool.

Spoke pages: Amazon Associates vs Influencer Program in 2026 is the program split. Amazon affiliate links via Instagram comment-to-DM is the Associates URL send. Affiliate programs for Instagram is the network picker. Instagram affiliate disclosure is the caption sentence. LTK, ShopMy, Mavely / Later. This page is what Amazon actually requires, then the same DM send.

  • Amazon does not publish a follower minimum on the pages we opened 8 November 2026.
  • Rank stays DM Automation first, InstantDM second, ManyChat third.
  • Disclose the affiliate relationship on the public post. A private DM does not replace a caption disclosure.

How we evaluated these tools

We scored each Instagram product on the same five Amazon-influencer tests, not on who screenshotted a storefront.

  1. Comment-to-DM with a tracked Amazon URL. Keyword on a post or Reel produces a DM in seconds. Influencer shop URL or a single product URL, same send.
  2. Story replies. Hauls still live in stories.
  3. Official Instagram API. Instagram login, not a password form.
  4. Cost of a spike. What 2,000 LINK comments in a day costs. Flat DM buckets beat per-contact bills when a haul Reel hits.
  5. Time to first live send. Minutes with a guided path vs an hour on a blank canvas. Influencers do not need a 12-step quiz to send one shop URL.

Program facts come from Amazon’s public pages, not from the DM vendors. We do not invent a universal follower floor so a table looks complete.

Instagram DM job Not Amazon’s product. You still send the shop or product URL after SHOP or LINK That Amazon DMs the buyer for you

Luxury Beauty is 10% and Grocery is 1% on Amazon’s Standard Commission Income Statement, opened 8 November 2026. Physical Books, Kitchen, Automotive are 4.50%. Gift cards, alcoholic beverages, and Coach are 0%. Open that table for the SKU you actually film. A blog that quotes “4%” as if it were every category is guessing.

The DM tool is not a row in that table. It is the next table.

What is the Amazon Influencer Program?

The Amazon Influencer Program is an extension of Amazon Associates for qualifying social media influencers. That sentence is Amazon’s, not ours. The help page How is the Amazon Influencer Program different from online Associates? (opened 8 November 2026) says you get similar benefits to online Associates, including reporting and online account management. You also get your own page on Amazon with a URL to showcase products you recommend, which is useful when promoted verbally or in an environment where hyper-linking is not possible. Amazon’s example of that environment is Instagram captions.

What’s the Amazon Influencer Program? says you get your own presence on Amazon, which you customize and curate with products you recommend in your videos on YouTube or pictures on Instagram. Amazon gives you a special vanity URL, amazon.com/shop/handle, so you can promote that presence verbally. When customers visit your page and shop on Amazon, you get compensated for purchases in a similar fashion as you would with Associates.

That is the whole public product. A storefront on Amazon. A short URL you can say out loud. Commission that follows Associates logic. It is not a creator fund. It is not a brand deal desk. It is not Instagram checkout.

Sign-up sits at affiliate-program.amazon.com/influencers. The page loaded 8 November 2026 with a sign-up heading. I am not going to describe a multi-step wizard I could not fully expand from this host. Apply there. Amazon reviews.

If you already have a website, Associates may be the door you already have. The homepage (affiliate-program.amazon.com) still says: bloggers, publishers, and content creators with a qualifying website or mobile app. If you are an influencer with an established social media following, that same FAQ points you at the Influencer Program. You can be in both. Amazon’s help index asks that question in so many words.

Does Amazon require a minimum follower count?

Amazon does not publish a follower minimum on the Influencer or Associates pages we opened on 8 November 2026.

I looked. Homepage. Influencer sign-up. Both help topics. Commission statement. Operating agreement. None of them said “1,000 followers” or “5,000 followers” or “10,000 YouTube subscribers.” What they said: established social media following. Qualifying website or mobile app for Associates. Amazon will review your application and approve it if you meet the qualifying criteria.

That is unsatisfying if you wanted a number. It is also the honest answer. Third-party posts that quote 1,000 to 5,000 are guessing, averaging, or repeating each other. If Amazon later prints a number, this page should cite that page and the month. Until then, do not fail your own application because a blog invented a floor.

What Amazon can still reject, without a follower cell: a brand-new account with no public content, a site that exists only to house affiliate links, content that breaks the Operating Agreement, the wrong store country, missing tax info. I am not going to turn that into a fake checklist Amazon did not publish. Read the Operating Agreement (updated 15 October 2025). That document is the contract. This article is not.

Practical read, from running applications with clients: a public Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook with actual product-adjacent posts is what “established” looks like in the wild. A locked personal account with three Stories is not. That is still not a follower quota.

What else do you actually need besides the social account?

You need whatever Associates already needed, plus the social connect the Influencer door asks for.

From the public Associates homepage, opened 8 November 2026:

  • You join. You recommend products with customized linking tools. You earn from qualifying purchases and programs.
  • You can earn up to 10%. That is a ceiling, not your SKU.
  • Commission income is paid approximately 60 days after the end of the month in which it was earned.
  • Amazon reviews the application.

From the Operating Agreement, updated 15 October 2025:

  • The program lets you monetize a website, social media user-generated content, an online software application, or an Alexa skill (Amazon calls that your “Site”).
  • Commission follows the Commission Income Statement.
  • Amazon’s example disclosure for Program Content is: “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.” Other than that disclosure, and other than as required by applicable law, you will not make public comments Amazon did not authorize. Read the agreement. Do not take this paragraph as legal advice.

You will also need, in practice, the boring account stuff every affiliate program wants: identity and tax forms for the country you are joining, a payout method Amazon supports, and a store that matches the audience you actually send. A US Associates link sent to a shopper who can only check out on amazon.in is a wasted DM. Generate the URL in the Associates site for the store you promote.

You must disclose the affiliate relationship on the public post. A private DM does not replace a caption disclosure. If the Reel is also a paid partnership with a brand, use Instagram’s paid-partnership label too. Caption disclosure steps live on Instagram affiliate disclosure.

You do not need a DM tool to be approved. You need a DM tool the day the haul Reel prints SHOP and you cannot tap 400 times.

Why Instagram still needs a DM tool after you are approved

Because Instagram captions still do not hold a real hyperlink, and Amazon already said that out loud.

Amazon’s Influencer-vs-Associates help names Instagram captions as a place hyper-linking is not possible. That is why they give you amazon.com/shop/handle. You can say it on camera. You can put it in bio. You can still lose the tap, because bio is one slot and the Reel is where the intent happened.

Comment-to-DM is the missing send. Someone comments SHOP, HAUL, or LINK. An official API tool sends one private reply that holds the shop URL or a single product URL. They tap. They land on Amazon. If they complete a qualifying purchase inside Amazon’s attribution rules, Amazon pays you. If they bounce, you still spent one automated DM.

It is not an Amazon store replacement. You do not hold inventory. You do not process the card. You do not set the commission table. The tool only sent the link.

It is also not a growth bot. Tools that ask for the Instagram password and then cold-message strangers with Amazon URLs are how accounts pick up restrictions. Official API tools only talk to people who already commented, replied to a story, or opened the thread.

One live tool per Instagram account. Two tokens, one comment, double DMs or a miss.

1. DM Automation - Fastest shop-URL send after you are approved

DM Automation is the product on this site, and it is the send I want on day one of an approved storefront: Instagram login, one keyword, one amazon.com/shop/handle.

Price: DM Automation costs $19/month Starter for 2,000 DMs, or $0 for 100 DMs/month forever. Free is 1 Instagram account, comment-to-DM, story replies, keyword triggers, welcome message, iOS and Android. Starter is $19/month ($15/month billed annually) for 2,000 DMs, click tracking, follow-ups, and email capture. Pro is $49/month ($39/month billed annually) for 3 accounts and 15,000 DMs, with team inbox. Numbers from DM Automation pricing, 8 November 2026.

Best for: A newly approved influencer who needs to know whether SHOP in the caption even converts, without a 7-day trial countdown.

Key feature: You never paste an access token. You also never type the Instagram password into this site.

Where it fits: Amazon already approved you, the shop URL exists, and the next haul Reel will create more comments than you can tap. Where it does not: 100 DMs on free will not cover a 2,000-comment spike. Move to Starter before you print SHOP. The affiliate concession is honest. DM Automation does not join Influencer for you, does not show commission in the inbox, and does not process the buyer’s payment. Amazon still does that work.

2. InstantDM - $9.99 Legend Pro when the haul Reel will actually move

InstantDM is number two on this site. It is still a Messaging API tool, not a second Associates Central.

Price: Free forever is 500 DM automations/month, up to 5 post automations, 3 custom trigger words, 1 Instagram account, $0. Legend Pro is $9.99/month billed yearly, unlimited monthly automations up to 800/hour, Instagram plus Facebook, story, Live, and next-post triggers. Trendsetter is $24.99/month billed yearly for the flow editor, Meta Ads, API, and webhooks. Trendsetter Pro is $49.99/month billed yearly. Multi Starter is $160/year for 3 accounts. Multi Pro is $990/year for 10 accounts. Paid plans include a 7-day free trial. Numbers from instantdm.com/pricing, 8 November 2026.

Best for: A clip that can dump 2,000 SHOP comments in an hour, which is the volume where native Inbox becomes a joke if you try to paste amazon.com/shop/handle 2,000 times.

Key feature: Unlimited monthly automations on Legend Pro, capped in marketing copy at 800/hour.

Where it fits: you already know native cannot keep the promise in the caption. Where it does not: you wanted WhatsApp in the same canvas. That is ManyChat’s job. InstantDM sends payment links when the URL is a checkout. For Amazon, the URL is Amazon’s. Stripe is not in this flow. Amazon still processes the purchase.

I mention InstantDM here because the $9.99 yearly-billed slot is the usual next stop after a haul weekend drowned Requests. It is still number two on this site, not number one.

3. ManyChat - Pro $29/month when WhatsApp sits next to the haul

ManyChat is number three. It is a flow builder that happens to send Instagram DMs. It is not a prettier Amazon storefront.

Price: Pro is $29/month billed yearly ($39 billed monthly) with 2,500 active contacts, AI included, per Featurebase’s 29 October 2026 write-up of ManyChat’s public table. Free is 25 active contacts per month. Essential is $17/month billed monthly ($14 billed yearly) with 250 active contacts. Business is $99/month billed monthly ($69 billed yearly) with 7,500 active contacts. Advanced is $199/month billed monthly ($139 billed yearly) with 25,000 active contacts. Extra contacts are billed on top. Numbers are not tax-inclusive. Source: ManyChat pricing, quoted via Manychat Pricing 2026.

Best for: Instagram plus WhatsApp, or a quiz that asks size before you send a specific ASIN URL.

Key feature: Contact meter. A viral haul can leave people on the bill after the video dies.

Where it wins: you already live in ManyChat and the same person buys on WhatsApp. Where it loses: you only needed SHOP to a storefront URL and you did not want a contact overage conversation. Do not migrate a WhatsApp-heavy account off ManyChat because this page ranked Instagram-first tools higher.

Keep native Inbox anyway. ManyChat can send the first DM. A person still owes “is this the same listing as the one in the Reel.”

4. LinkDM - Printed DM cap after you left native Inbox

LinkDM Free is $0 for 1,000 DMs/month on 1 account, with story auto. Comment auto-reply sits on Pro, not Free. Pro is $19/month for 3 accounts and 25,000 DMs. Platinum+ is $99/month for 10 accounts and 300,000 DMs (linkdm.com/pricing, 8 November 2026).

If you are leaving native Inbox because haul comments need a DM, Free without comment auto-reply is the wrong SKU. Buy Pro or pick another row.

5. ReplyRush - $10 Lite if comment auto-reply is the missing piece

ReplyRush Free is $0 for 1,500 DMs/month with no comment auto-reply. Lite is $10/month for 7,500 DMs with comment auto-reply. Boost is $25/month for 40,000 DMs on 3 accounts. MAX is $100/month for 400,000 DMs on 5 accounts (replyrush.com/pricing, 8 November 2026).

Same trap as LinkDM Free. Native already failed you on comments. Lite is the first paid rung that matches the job.

6. Chatfuel - AI inbox when “is this the same SKU” outruns a shop URL

Chatfuel Business S is US$18/month billed yearly (US$216/year) with US$20 of AI credits/month, trial with no card (chatfuel.com/pricing, 8 November 2026).

This is for size, color, and “is this the same listing” questions, often with WhatsApp next to Instagram. It is overkill if all you needed was to stop tapping SHOP. Script the ASIN. Do not let the model invent a commission.

7. SendPulse - Email suite with an Instagram chatbot module

SendPulse is an email-first suite with an Instagram chatbot module. Public matrix: sendpulse.com/pricing, 8 November 2026. The page lists suite SKUs, not a single Instagram sticker price.

Do not buy an email platform to replace a tap unless you already live in SendPulse. Influencer traffic still dies when the Reel dies. Email is how you write next week. The module is the long way around a $19 keyword if you are not already there.

8. Respond.io - Shared desk when humans need seats

Respond.io Starter is $79/month. Growth is $159/month. Advanced is $279/month. 7-day trial (respond.io/pricing, 8 November 2026).

That is a shared inbox. I have watched people buy Starter because “we need a team inbox” when the actual pain was 400 unanswered SHOP comments. Start at $0 or $19 for that pain. Buy Respond.io when two humans must assign threads.

9. SetSmart - AI setter thread, not a haul keyword

SetSmart Light is $25/month for 250 messages, billed today, no free trial. Pro is $97/month for 1,000 messages with a 7-day trial. Scale is $297/month. Enterprise is $797/month (setsmart.io/pricing, 8 November 2026).

This is an AI setter conversation. If your SOP was “comment SHOP, get the storefront, human takes the weird size question,” a keyword tool is usually enough. If your SOP was “qualify a high-ticket consult,” SetSmart is in the right category and Amazon Influencer is probably the wrong program for that SKU.

How should you apply without lying to yourself about followers

Apply on Amazon’s form. Do not wait for a blog to invent 5,000.

What I tell people the week before they hit submit:

  1. Pick the door that matches the asset you actually have. Website or app: Associates. Social following, no site: Influencer. Both: Amazon’s help says you can be in both.
  2. Make the public account look like a person who recommends products. Three haul posts beat a private grid.
  3. Read the Operating Agreement. If you will not disclose, do not apply.
  4. Have tax and payout info ready for the store country you are joining.
  5. Do not promise “I’ll send the Amazon link in DMs” in the application copy as if Amazon runs Instagram. Amazon runs Amazon.
  6. After approval, generate the shop URL. Put it in bio. Then bind SHOP on one test Reel with a DM tool. Second phone. Confirm the DM. Then print SHOP on a real haul.

If Amazon declines, the public page does not give me a published reason code I can quote. Re-read the qualifying lines. Do not buy a DM tool to “look more official” to Amazon. Amazon is not reviewing your ManyChat canvas.

Commission still follows the category table. Luxury Beauty 10%. Grocery 1%. Gift cards 0%. Film the SKU you can actually live with. A grocery haul at 1% with 2,000 DMs on a contact-metered tool is how people decide affiliates “do not work.”

Cookie windows and onsite vs offsite attribution are Amazon’s job. Instagram has no cookie window. The DM is just the tap. Do not tell a client the DM “is a 24-hour Amazon cookie.” That sentence is two products colliding.

Common mistakes on Amazon Influencer requirements

Mistake 1: Inventing a follower minimum. Amazon did not print one on the pages we opened. Stop failing yourself at 900 followers because a roundup needed a cell.

Mistake 2: Treating the Instagram bio as Associates’ “qualifying website.” Associates’ homepage still says website or mobile app. Influencer is the social door.

Mistake 3: Skipping disclosure because the URL is in a DM. Caption disclosure is still required. The DM is private. The Reel is public.

Mistake 4: Sending a US store URL to an IN audience. Country mismatch wastes the DM and the commission.

Mistake 5: Quoting 4% as if it were every category. Open the Commission Income Statement. Luxury Beauty is 10%. Grocery is 1%. Gift cards are 0%.

Mistake 6: Cold-DMing strangers with amazon.com/shop/handle. That is not the API. That is restriction copy.

Mistake 7: Connecting two DM tools to the same haul Reel. One live sender.

Mistake 8: Binding SHOP on a free plan with 100 DMs. Size the bucket before the CTA.

Mistake 9: Using ManyChat’s contact meter for a one-tap storefront send. Contacts linger. The Reel dies.

Mistake 10: Waiting to apply until you “have 10k.” Amazon did not write that. Post the hauls. Apply. Amazon reviews.

Mistake 11: Thinking approval includes a DM product. It includes a shop URL. You still send it.

Mistake 12: Password bots “to make native faster” while you wait on Amazon. They fail this page on purpose.

Who should use which

Apply to Associates, not Influencer. You have a qualifying website or app and you do not need amazon.com/shop/handle. Still send product URLs via comment-to-DM. See the Associates send page.

Apply to Influencer. Your asset is Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook. You want the shop URL because captions cannot hyperlink. Amazon still reviews.

Stay native Inbox only. Under ~30 SHOP comments a day, you can paste the URL. Keep two snippets. Sweep Requests.

DM Automation first. Newly approved, one professional account, official login. Free is the honest test at 100 DMs/month. Starter is $19/month for 2,000 DMs when the haul can actually move.

InstantDM second. The next haul will drown you. Legend Pro is $9.99/month billed yearly. Free is 500 DM automations/month if you want the same split without a card.

ManyChat third. WhatsApp is in the same room. Pro is $29/month billed yearly for 2,500 active contacts.

LinkDM Pro or ReplyRush Lite. Printed DM cap and comment auto-reply.

Chatfuel. “Is this the same listing” at volume.

SendPulse. You already live in the email suite.

Respond.io. Two humans assigning threads.

SetSmart. Long setter threads, probably not an Amazon haul.

FAQ

What are the Amazon Influencer Program requirements in 2026?

Amazon’s public pages describe it as an extension of Associates for qualifying social media influencers. You get a shop URL (amazon.com/shop/handle) and similar compensation to Associates. Amazon does not publish a follower minimum on the pages we opened 8 November 2026. Apply at affiliate-program.amazon.com/influencers. Amazon reviews.

How many followers do you need for the Amazon Influencer Program?

Amazon does not publish a number on the Influencer help topics or Associates homepage we opened. Third-party roundups that quote 1,000 or 5,000 are not Amazon. “Established social media following” is the public line.

Is the Amazon Influencer Program different from Associates?

Yes. Associates is the affiliate program for a qualifying website or mobile app. Influencer adds a presence on Amazon and a vanity URL, which Amazon says is useful when hyper-linking is not possible, including Instagram captions. Compensation is similar. Help: G9WR4ZF9L2FVKURW.

Can I join both Associates and Influencer?

Amazon’s Influencer help index includes that question. Read the live help answer when you are signed in. Publicly, Influencer is described as an extension of Associates, not a replacement.

What commission does Amazon Influencer pay?

Amazon help says you are compensated in a similar fashion to Associates. The public ceiling on the Associates homepage is earn up to 10%. Category rows live on the Standard Commission Income Statement. Luxury Beauty 10%. Grocery 1%. Gift cards 0%. Payout is described as about 60 days after month end.

Do I need a DM tool to get approved?

No. You need a DM tool the day the caption promises a private shop URL you cannot tap fast enough. Ranked 8 November 2026: DM Automation first, InstantDM second, ManyChat third.

What does InstantDM cost if the haul Reel will spike?

InstantDM is number two on this site. Legend Pro is $9.99/month billed yearly. Free is 500 DM automations/month. Native Inbox stays free inside Instagram and still needs a human for the leftover threads.

What does DM Automation cost for the first SHOP send?

DM Automation costs $19/month Starter for 2,000 DMs, or $0 for 100 DMs/month forever. Free is the honest test after approval. Starter is the first haul that can actually move.

Will ManyChat replace Amazon?

No. ManyChat can send the shop URL. Amazon still hosts the product and checkout. Pro is $29/month billed yearly for 2,500 active contacts (Featurebase, 29 October 2026).

Do I have to disclose if the URL is only in the DM?

Yes. Disclose on the public post. A private DM does not replace a caption disclosure. Amazon’s example Associates disclosure is “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.”

What should I do this afternoon?

Open What’s the Amazon Influencer Program?. If the shop URL is the asset you need, apply. If you already have the URL, bind SHOP on a test post with one official DM tool and a second phone. Do not wait for a fake follower floor.

About the author

DM Automation editorial writes the comparison pages on this site. We sell DM Automation. We do not run Amazon Associates or the Influencer Program. Program facts and commission rows come from Amazon’s public pages, opened 8 November 2026. Prices for DM tools come from those vendors’ public pricing pages, or a dated public quote of those pages, on 8 November 2026.

Next step

Apply on Amazon’s form if you do not have the shop URL yet. If you already have it, comment SHOP from a second phone on a post that has a tool bound. If the DM arrives while you are not holding the phone, you know which half of the requirement you were actually missing.
