What are ClickBank HopLinks in Instagram DMs?
A ClickBank HopLink is an affiliate tracking URL that sends a shopper to a seller’s landing page and tells ClickBank which affiliate sent them. ClickBank’s HopLinks Guide (updated 10 April 2025, checked 26 October 2026) says if a customer buys a product within 60 days of clicking on a HopLink, the affiliate who referred the customer receives credit and commission for the sale. Instagram does not calculate that commission. The DM tool does not calculate it either.
The Instagram half of the job is simple. A person comments a keyword you printed on the Reel. An official API tool sends one DM that holds that HopLink. They tap. They land on the vendor’s pitch page through hop.clickbank.net. If they buy a qualifying item inside that 60-day window, ClickBank credits you. If they bounce, you still spent one automated DM.
ClickBank is a marketplace and a checkout network, not a monthly SaaS you buy to send DMs. Creating a HopLink inside a ClickBank affiliate account is free. You pay a DM tool if you want comment-to-DM. Keep those invoices separate. You do not hold inventory. You do not process the card. You do not set the vendor’s commission table.
ClickBank’s own comparison of ClickBank vs Amazon is the public page for the cookie contrast. ClickBank’s HopLink window is 60 days from the click. ClickBank affiliates buy ManyChat when WhatsApp is already a working channel, or when a flowchart has to ask “US or UK checkout?” then ship the matching HopLink. That canvas is real. It is also why first-time setup takes longer than a guided comment-to-DM form.
The cost trap is contacts, not DMs. If a course Reel produces 2,000 new people, those people can stay on the contact meter. A flat Instagram DM bucket bills the messages. ManyChat bills the people. LinkDM is built around sending links in DMs. That matches the HopLink job more tightly than a full CRM inbox. Where it fits: one offer per post, high comment volume, invoice in DMs not contacts. The shopper comments COURSE, then asks if it works on Android, then asks if there is a refund. A static pitch page still helps. An AI agent that answers from your caption notes helps more.
Do not use Chatfuel to invent vendor prices or refund windows. The live pitch page is the price. The bot should send the HopLink and answer questions you actually know. If you do not know whether ClickBank still tracks that SKU, open the marketplace listing instead of guessing a 75% rate. Where it fits: FAQ after COURSE. Where it does not: you only needed one HopLink. Chatfuel is not ClickBank. Inventory, checkout, and commission stay on the vendor through ClickBank.

What floor rules can the tool not save you from?
The URL is not a HopLink. If you pasted the vendor.com path from the share sheet, ClickBank never saw the click. Copy the HopLink from your ClickBank account. The HopLinks Guide says working formats include hop.clickbank.net. Retired formats will not track.
