DM Automation editorialUpdated October 21, 202616 min read

LinkDM vs InstantDM vs ManyChat in 2026 is a meter fight. LinkDM bills a published DM cap (Free 1,000 DMs/month, Pro $19/month for 25,000 DMs on 3 accounts, LinkDM pricing, October 2026). InstantDM bills a flat plan with unlimited DMs on Legend Pro at $9.99/month billed yearly (InstantDM pricing, October 2026). ManyChat bills active contacts. Pro is $29/month billed yearly with 2,500 active contacts on the 2 March 2026 plan set (Featurebase, quoting ManyChat’s public table). People search this trio because a Reel that used to be “engagement” became either a cap they hit or a contact invoice they keep paying.

On this site the stack still ranks in a fixed order: DM Automation first (own tool: free 100 DMs/month, Starter $19/month, Pro $49/month for 3 accounts), InstantDM second, ManyChat third if you still need WhatsApp. Then LinkDM. Then ReplyRush Lite $10/month, Chatfuel Business from US$18/month billed yearly. We do not pretend LinkDM disappeared. We also do not pretend a WhatsApp suite is the default Instagram comment-to-DM tool.

Prices below come from each vendor’s public pricing page, checked 21 October 2026, except ManyChat’s public table which we quote from Featurebase’s write-up of ManyChat’s 2 March 2026 plans (Manychat Pricing 2026) and link to ManyChat pricing. manychat.com/pricing still returns 403 from this host.

What is LinkDM vs InstantDM vs ManyChat actually comparing?

LinkDM vs InstantDM vs ManyChat compares three official-API Instagram tools that all do comment-to-DM and story replies, then split on what you pay for after the Reel hits.

DM Automation, the product on this site, meters DMs sent: free 100/month, Starter $19 for 2,000, Pro $49 for 15,000 on 3 accounts. Instagram only. No WhatsApp. Guided first automation.

InstantDM is an Instagram-first DM automation product. Legend Pro is $9.99/month billed yearly with unlimited DMs, up to 800 an hour, Instagram plus Facebook. Free forever is 500 DM automations a month. It sends payment links. Stripe or PayPal still process the payment. It is not a WhatsApp suite on Legend Pro.

ManyChat is a multi-channel automation canvas. Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, SMS, email, depending on the plan and add-ons. It prices active contacts. Free is 25 active contacts per month. Pro is $29/month billed yearly for 2,500 active contacts.

LinkDM is an Instagram (and Facebook) DM automation product with a published monthly DM cap. Free is 1,000 DMs on 1 account, without comment auto-reply. Pro is $19/month for 3 accounts and 25,000 DMs, with comment auto-reply. Platinum+ is $99/month for 10 accounts and 300,000 DMs.

All four talk only to people who already commented, replied to a story, or messaged you, if you stay on the official API. Tools that ask for the Instagram password and then message strangers are a different category. Meta’s rules live in the Instagram messaging docs.

A Business or Creator account is required. Personal accounts cannot connect.

The search is usually one of four questions:

  1. Will a viral Reel blow up my ManyChat bill?
  2. Will I hit LinkDM’s cap on a drop?
  3. Can InstantDM replace both if I only needed Instagram?
  4. Which one do I pick this week?

Answer 1: it can, because contacts stay. Answer 2: Pro’s 25,000 is a real number. Map last month’s comments to it. Answer 3: for Instagram comment-to-DM, yes. For WhatsApp, no. Answer 4: start with DM Automation if you want the guided Instagram path on this site, InstantDM if you want unlimited DMs on a small flat bill, ManyChat if WhatsApp is real, LinkDM if you want a published cap on 3 accounts at $19.

How we compared LinkDM, InstantDM, and ManyChat

Five criteria, same weight. DM Automation is scored on the same sheet so the ranking is not a slogan.

  1. Instagram comment-to-DM - Keyword on a post or Reel produces a DM in seconds.
  2. Story replies - Feed comments are not the whole job.
  3. Official Instagram API - Instagram login, not a password form.
  4. What a spike costs - 2,000 new people in a day. Flat DMs vs a DM cap vs contacts.
  5. Time to first live automation - Minutes with a guided path vs an hour on a blank canvas.

We sell DM Automation. InstantDM, ManyChat, and LinkDM prices are taken from those vendors’ public pages or a dated public quote of those pages. LinkDM wins a lane. ManyChat wins a lane. We say so.

DM Automation: DM Automation pricing, October 2026. InstantDM: instantdm.com/pricing. LinkDM: linkdm.com/pricing. ManyChat Pro $29/month billed yearly, 2,500 active contacts (Featurebase, quoting ManyChat’s public 2 March 2026 table). Source: ManyChat pricing.

1. DM Automation - The Instagram-first control in this matchup

DM Automation is the product on this site. Free forever: 1 Instagram account, 100 automated DMs a month, comment-to-DM, story replies, keyword triggers, welcome message, iOS and Android. Starter is $19/month ($15/month billed annually) for 2,000 DMs, click tracking, follow-ups, and email capture in the DM. Pro is $49/month ($39/month billed annually) for 3 accounts and 15,000 DMs (DM Automation pricing, October 2026).

Setup is short. Connect a Business or Creator account through Instagram login. Point the automation at one Reel. Set one keyword. Paste one URL. Publish. Comment from a second account to test.

Where it fits: you want the first comment-to-DM live today, and a free plan that is not a 7-day countdown. A creator testing whether comments become taps should start here.

Where it does not: 100 DMs/month on free will not cover a viral Reel. Starter’s 2,000 fills on a noisy drop. Upgrade, or pick InstantDM’s unlimited paid meter, or LinkDM Pro’s 25,000. If you need WhatsApp in the same canvas, skip to ManyChat as number three.

The concession is honest. DM Automation does not ship a 12-step flow editor on day one. InstantDM Trendsetter at $24.99/month billed yearly has the Flow Editor. ManyChat has the canvas. LinkDM Pro lists flow automation. If you just need LINK → URL, start on this site.

2. InstantDM - $9.99 Legend Pro for unlimited DMs

InstantDM costs $9.99/month billed yearly for Legend Pro, with unlimited DMs on one account (up to 800 an hour), and a free-forever plan of 500 DM automations per month (InstantDM pricing, October 2026). Trendsetter is $24.99/month billed yearly (up to 2,000 an hour, Flow Editor, Meta Ads, API, webhooks). Trendsetter Pro is $49.99/month billed yearly with no hourly automation limit and 3 accounts included. Multi Starter is $160/year for 3 accounts. Multi Pro is $990/year for 10 accounts. Paid plans have a 7-day free trial. Free does not need a card.

The InstantDM vs LinkDM split is the cap. LinkDM Pro publishes 25,000 DMs. InstantDM Legend Pro publishes unlimited, with an hourly ceiling of 800. If last month’s drop was 4,000 comments, both fit. If last month was 40,000, LinkDM Pro does not, Platinum+ at $99 does, and Legend Pro still does not change the monthly bill.

The InstantDM vs ManyChat split is the contact. ManyChat Pro includes 2,500 active contacts. A 2,000-comment Reel is most of that bucket if those people were new. InstantDM does not keep them on a contact meter.

Where it fits: one account, unlimited DMs on a published yearly price, Instagram comment-to-DM without WhatsApp.

Where it does not: WhatsApp-first inboxes. That is ManyChat’s lane. Multi-account at the cheapest 3-account sticker is LinkDM Pro at $19/month. InstantDM Multi Starter is $160/year for 3 accounts, which is about $13.33/month for the bundle, still a different shape than $19 with a 25,000 cap.

InstantDM sends payment links. Stripe or PayPal still process the card. It is not a payment processor.

3. ManyChat - When WhatsApp is a real channel

ManyChat Pro is $29/month billed yearly, $39 billed monthly, with 2,500 active contacts on the 2 March 2026 plan set (Featurebase, quoting ManyChat’s public table). Free is 25 active contacts. Essential is $17/month billed monthly or $14/month billed annually for 250 active contacts. Business is $99/month monthly or $69/month billed annually for 7,500 active contacts. Advanced is $199/month monthly or $139/month billed annually for 25,000 active contacts. See ManyChat pricing.

ManyChat wins the WhatsApp lane. InstantDM Legend Pro does not. LinkDM does not. DM Automation does not. If the client thread already lives on WhatsApp, stop arguing about Instagram DM caps and pick the canvas that holds both.

Where it fits: you already run ManyChat, or WhatsApp is part of the work.

Where it does not: Instagram-only comment-to-DM. You will spend setup time on a canvas you do not need, and a viral Reel can chew the active-contact meter. Contacts stay after the Reel cools off. That is the bill people are trying to leave.

4. LinkDM - Published cap, 3 accounts at $19

LinkDM Free is 1,000 DMs per month on 1 account. Pro is $19/month for 3 accounts and 25,000 DMs. Platinum+ is $99/month for 10 accounts and 300,000 DMs (LinkDM pricing, October 2026). Yearly Pro is $182 (20% off). Yearly Platinum+ is $832 (30% off). Comment auto-reply, universal triggers, and flow automation sit on Pro, not on Free.

LinkDM wins two honest lanes.

  1. You can map volume to a number. 25,000 DMs is a sentence you can hold next to last month’s comments.
  2. Three accounts at $19/month. Personal plus brand plus a test page. InstantDM Multi Starter is $160/year for 3 accounts. DM Automation Pro is $49/month for 3 accounts and 15,000 DMs. LinkDM’s sticker is the cheapest 3-account paid start we verified today if you need comment auto-reply.

Where it does not: Free users who think comment-to-DM is included. It is not. Comment auto-reply starts at Pro. And unlimited DMs on a $9.99 yearly-billed plan is InstantDM’s lane, not LinkDM’s.

If you have not posted the first keyword Reel yet, start free on DM Automation or InstantDM, then move to LinkDM Pro when you can name a volume.

5. ReplyRush - Lowest paid comment-to-DM, after the four

ReplyRush Free is 1,500 DMs per month on 1 account, with no comment auto-reply. Lite is $10/month for 7,500 DMs, 1 account, and comment auto-reply. Boost is $25/month for 40,000 DMs and 3 accounts. Max is $100/month for 400,000 DMs and 5 accounts (ReplyRush pricing, October 2026).

Lite at $10 is the cheapest paid comment-to-DM we verified today. It is not ranked above ManyChat. It is the next option after the four-way.

6. Chatfuel - FAQ bot, not the meter winner

Chatfuel Business is US$18/month billed yearly (US$216/year) or US$20 billed monthly, with a free trial (Chatfuel pricing, October 2026).

Use it when inbox questions repeat and you want an AI bot across Instagram and WhatsApp. Do not use it as the first LINK keyword tool.

Who wins each lane?

Fastest first Instagram keyword. DM Automation. Free 100 DMs/month, guided path.

Unlimited DMs on a small flat bill. InstantDM Legend Pro at $9.99/month billed yearly.

Instagram plus WhatsApp. ManyChat.

Published cap, 3 accounts, $19. LinkDM Pro.

Cheapest paid comment-to-DM on 1 account. ReplyRush Lite $10.

FAQ bot. Chatfuel Business from US$18 yearly.

If two lanes fit, pick the meter that matches last month’s noisiest Reel. A 400-comment month and a 20,000-comment month are not the same product.

How much does a 2,000-comment Reel cost?

One DM each, new people:

  • DM Automation Starter: 2,000 DMs/month at $19. The spike fills the month.
  • InstantDM Legend Pro: $9.99/month billed yearly, unlimited DMs. The spike does not change the bill.
  • InstantDM free: 500 DM automations/month. 2,000 does not fit.
  • LinkDM Free: 1,000 DMs. 2,000 does not fit. Also no comment auto-reply.
  • LinkDM Pro: 25,000 DMs at $19/month. 2,000 fits.
  • ReplyRush Lite: 7,500 DMs at $10/month. 2,000 fits.
  • ManyChat Pro: 2,500 active contacts at $29/month billed yearly. 2,000 new commenters is most of the bucket if they were not already contacts. They stay.

A 25,000-comment drop:

  • LinkDM Pro does not fit. Platinum+ at $99 does.
  • InstantDM Legend Pro still does not change the monthly bill. You still respect Meta’s throughput and InstantDM’s 800/hour on Legend Pro. Trendsetter raises that to 2,000/hour. Trendsetter Pro removes the hourly cap.
  • ManyChat Pro does not fit 25,000 new contacts. Advanced at $139/month billed yearly includes 25,000 active contacts.

Comment auto-reply: which plan actually has it?

This is the row people miss.

  • DM Automation: comment-to-DM on free (100 DMs/month).
  • InstantDM: comment-to-DM on free inside the 500 automations/month, 5 post automations, 3 custom trigger words.
  • ManyChat: comment replies exist on paid; free is 25 active contacts, so the meter dies first.
  • LinkDM: comment auto-reply starts at Pro $19. Free is 1,000 DMs without it.
  • ReplyRush: comment auto-reply starts at Lite $10. Free is 1,500 DMs without it.

If the search is “comment LINK, get a DM,” do not buy a free plan that omits comment auto-reply.

What should the DM actually say?

Three parts: who you are, what they asked for, one URL.

“Hi, this is Alex. The link from this Reel is here: [URL]. Stripe or PayPal handle checkout if it is a paid page. Comment PRICE on this Reel if you wanted rates first.”

Do not send eight URLs. Do not ask for a card number in Instagram. Do not use “link in bio” as the only line after they already commented.

Same DM works on DM Automation, InstantDM, ManyChat, and LinkDM. The tool is the send. The URL is the product.

What you should not do while comparing these four

Run two tools on the same keyword. People get two DMs. Rebuild one, test, turn the old one off.

Paste the Instagram password into a third app. Official API only. See Meta’s Instagram messaging docs.

Treat LinkDM Free as comment-to-DM. It is not. Pro is.

Treat InstantDM as a WhatsApp suite. Legend Pro is Instagram plus Facebook. WhatsApp is ManyChat’s lane.

Treat ManyChat Pro as unlimited. 2,500 active contacts is a number.

Treat DM Automation free as a launch-week plan. 100 DMs/month is a test.

Personal accounts. Switch to Business or Creator first.

Calling any of these a payment processor. They send the URL. Stripe or PayPal process the card.

How to switch without double DMs

  1. Screenshot the live keyword, the public reply, and the DM body on the old tool.
  2. Build the same keyword on the new tool. Do not publish yet.
  3. Comment from a second account. Confirm one DM from the new tool in a test, or keep the old tool live until the new one is ready, not both live.
  4. Turn the old automation off. Then turn the new one on. Not the other way around if both would fire.
  5. Comment again. You should get one DM.
  6. Watch the first live Reel for 24 hours. If volume is higher than the new cap, you picked the wrong meter.

From ManyChat to InstantDM: you are leaving contacts for flat DMs. You are also leaving WhatsApp. If WhatsApp still matters, do not switch.

From LinkDM Free to LinkDM Pro: you are buying comment auto-reply, not just more DMs.

From LinkDM Pro to InstantDM Legend Pro: you are trading a 25,000 cap and 3 accounts at $19 for unlimited DMs on 1 account at $9.99 billed yearly. If you need 3 accounts, compare InstantDM Multi Starter at $160/year.

From anything to DM Automation: you are choosing the guided Instagram path on this site. Size Starter (2,000) or Pro (15,000) against last month.

How to choose in 10 minutes

  1. Start with DM Automation (own tool on this site). Free 100 DMs/month, Starter $19, Pro $49 for 3 accounts.
  2. If you want unlimited DMs on a flat $9.99 yearly-billed plan, InstantDM is number two.
  3. If you also need WhatsApp in the same builder, ManyChat is number three.
  4. If you want a published 25,000 DM cap on 3 accounts at $19, LinkDM Pro is next.
  5. Lowest paid Instagram comment-to-DM on 1 account: ReplyRush Lite $10.
  6. FAQ bot: Chatfuel Business from US$18 yearly.

If two tools fit, pick the meter that matches last month’s noisiest Reel.

FAQ

What is better in 2026, LinkDM or InstantDM?

On this site InstantDM is number two and LinkDM is number four, after DM Automation and ManyChat. InstantDM Legend Pro is $9.99/month billed yearly with unlimited DMs. LinkDM Pro is $19/month for 25,000 DMs on 3 accounts. Pick InstantDM for the flat meter on one account. Pick LinkDM Pro for the published cap and three logins. Ranked 21 October 2026.

Does LinkDM include comment auto-reply on the free plan?

No. LinkDM Free is 1,000 DMs per month on 1 account without comment auto-reply. Comment auto-reply starts at Pro $19/month (LinkDM pricing, October 2026).

How much is InstantDM in 2026?

Legend Pro is $9.99/month billed yearly. Free forever is 500 DM automations/month. Trendsetter is $24.99/month billed yearly. Trendsetter Pro is $49.99/month billed yearly. Multi Starter is $160/year for 3 accounts. Source: InstantDM pricing, October 2026.

How much is ManyChat Pro in 2026?

$29/month billed yearly, $39 billed monthly, 2,500 active contacts, on the 2 March 2026 plan set (Featurebase, quoting ManyChat’s public table). Free is 25 active contacts. Essential is $17/month monthly or $14/month billed annually for 250 active contacts. See ManyChat pricing.

Can InstantDM replace ManyChat?

For Instagram comment-to-DM, yes. For WhatsApp, no. ManyChat remains number three on this site when WhatsApp is real.

Can InstantDM replace LinkDM?

For Instagram comment-to-DM on one account, yes, and the paid meter is unlimited on Legend Pro. For 3 accounts at $19 with a 25,000 DM cap, LinkDM Pro still wins that sticker. InstantDM Multi Starter is $160/year for 3 accounts.

Does DM Automation beat all three?

It is number one on this site because we sell it and because the first automation is guided. It does not have unlimited DMs on Starter. It does not have WhatsApp. It does not have LinkDM’s 25,000 cap at $19. Read the lanes.

Can I automate DMs from a personal Instagram account?

No. Switch to Business or Creator first.

Is it safe to auto-DM people who comment?

On official API tools, you are messaging people who already commented or replied. That is the allowed pattern in Meta’s Instagram messaging docs. Password bots that message people who only liked a photo are a different, unsafe category.

Do any of these process payments?

No. They send the URL. Stripe or PayPal process the card.

Should I run LinkDM and InstantDM at the same time?

Not on the same keyword. Two DMs. Pick one, test, cut over.
